They come from two different worlds. John (Jiang) Long grew up in rural China where the name Jesus never surfaced. Kevin Avery grew up 8,000 miles away with Christian parents in the suburbs of the United States. Humanly speaking, their paths should never cross, yet this situation changes when they follow a transforming Jesus. Not only does God divinely bring them together to start an international student ministry, but also, he reverses their residences. He plants Long as a pastor in Tulsa and sends Avery as a missionary to China, even to the mountain villages of Long's youth. While in exchanged countries, they become strangers of this world, ready to disciple the nations in reverent brokenness. About the Authors As ordained pastors, both authors have ministered to people globally. Kevin Avery has a master of divinity degree from George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. Currently a hospice chaplain, he and his wife, Dayna, reside in Waco, Texas, with their two children. John (Jiang) Long earned a master of business administration from Oral Roberts University. He is president of International Village ministry and lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, May (Xuemei), and their three children.

This is the story of two men led by God to serve in each other's country. They have the same difficulties such as language barriers and especially cultural barriers. Both of them step out on faith letting God lead them and use them. I think the thing I took from this book the most is the difference between being a Christian and a disciple. As was pointed out in the book the word Christian is used only three times, whereas the word disciple is used 269 times. We have been sent into the world to be disciples for Christ. That means he sends some to other countries and some of us he uses right here. For me this book was a reminder that we need to be doing more for the Lord where ever he places us. I love the book and highly recommend it.

One man from America and one man from China live their lives following God's will. It brings them together at a church for internationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their paths cross and they end up serving in missions in the other man's country. This is a true, heart warming story of mission and example of what it is like to truly live according to God's will. The book presents two corresponding lives and where they cross in following God's path for their lives. Each one is from entirely different backgrounds but dedicated to their mission work.

I enjoyed reading this story, which is actually two stories of lives that inter cross. As the saying goes, it is a small world and this only confirms that statement. I liked the honesty and authenticity expressed by both men as they faced their choices and decisions and considered the effects those decisions would have on those around them. Mission work has always been an interest for me and it takes a strong and trusting person to make that step into another country for God.

Each man is now an ordained minister, living with their wives and children in the United States.
